Miraya

I’m a Grade 12 student at Oberoi International School in Mumbai. I’m deeply passionate about the intersection of STEM—particularly chemistry, machine learning, and entrepreneurship—and gender equality. As someone who has always been fascinated by how science and technology can shape the world, I’ve focused much of my academic and personal efforts on ensuring that more women have the opportunity to contribute to these fields. Growing up, I was often the only girl in spaces dominated by boys, especially in computer science and math, and this only strengthened my resolve to create more inclusive environments for women in STEM.

Hobbies and Passions

Speedcubing
In addition to my academic and community interests, I am passionate about speedcubing. I’ve competed in multiple competitions, including Mumbai Cubecon, where I earned awards in Pyraminx, 2x2, and 3x3 with an average solve time of 17.15 seconds for 3x3. Through my efforts, I’ve managed to earn $450 in prize money and am constantly pushing myself to improve my techniques and times.
Playing the Drums
Another passion of mine is playing the drums. It serves as a creative outlet that allows me to unwind after long hours of study or work. Drumming complements my problem-solving mindset in STEM and offers a rhythmic balance to the logical challenges I often face.
Filmmaking
I also have a deep interest in filmmaking. Recently, I directed a short film titled PANIC (2023), which explores the complexities of panic disorder. Filmmaking gives me a chance to dive into storytelling from a deeply personal perspective, and I hope to continue developing this passion alongside my other pursuits in STEM and beyond.

These hobbies bring balance to my life, allowing me to express different sides of myself, while complementing my academic and professional journey.
